Anniversary of Tragedy

9/11 Anniversary

Today is the 11th anniversary of the World Trade Center attack.

I considered a number of excerpts from this week’s lectionary to anchor this Snippet but in the end it seemed more appropriate to simply offer an ongoing prayer of remembrance for those who died in the attack, their families who still mourn, and all of the millions who have been affected around the world in the ensuing decade plus.

There are many lessons that we, as an emerging global civilization, can learn from this one event. None is more important than the realization that there is no separation between us; we are all, every one of us, no matter where we live, no matter what we believe, no matter we have, inseverably part of one Creation.

May each day bring us a little closer to understanding that, not with our heads, but with our hearts.
