Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
I thought of calling this Snippet “Variety is the Spice of Faith.” I find it difficult to understand how people who believe that “God” can only speak to us in one way arrive at that conclusion.
We need only look at the world around us, with its dizzying variety, to know that the Immanence of Theos is endlessly creative.
My dad never had the opportunity to travel much but he loved to watch nature shows. And he wasn’t a “religious” man, but he was very spiritual. We never discussed “creationism” or “evolution.” But there was never any doubt in my mind about where he thought that such a complex world originated.
There are indeed varieties of gifts, and services and ways in which we can live them out.
But underlying them there is one Divinity, one unity, one “Creator.”
And Theos is the same in everyone.
