Do not put your trust in princes, in mortals, in whom there is no help. When their breath departs, they return to the earth; on that very day their plans perish. – Psalm 146:2-4
Most of us, if we’re honest with ourselves, have trouble trusting our relationship with Theos/God at some point. After all, we tell ourselves, how do we know that we’re not just rationalizing our own selfish desires? It’s easier to trust “princes” and let others provide the direction.
As this hymn says, however, princes, and leaders of all kinds, come and go.
Our relationship with Theos is eternal and inseverable.
